Problem Description:

At present, 90% of the 230 children adopted  in Shantou Welfare House are suffering from congenital diseases such as cleft lip palate, cardiac disease, limb deficiency, cerebral palsy and so on. The welfare house of Shantou hardly has enough staff and money to cover the needs of the children. We are worried  the fact that children there lacked rehabilitation training.

Solution:

1.Contact with Shantou Welfare House ,ask for their permission to carry out the project, and have the objects settled. (accomplished)

2.Recruit 22 to 25 volunteers and form a rehabilitation team. Have the team trained by doctors from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University and teachers for children from the welfare house. (accomplished)

3.Assisting the Shantou Welfare House in raising fund, part of which will be used to recruit 4 graduates with qualification of nursing or teaching .

4.Carry out rehabilitation training

Detailed work plan of the training

(1)The nursing attendants will carry out interference training onto the children from Monday to Friday.

(2)During the weekends, the volunteers will be responsible for the training.

(3)Every month, the leader of the volunteers will keep track of the conditions of children and make close observation on them. The conditions of children will also be recorded in detail.

(4)Doctors from the Second Affiliated Hospital will help carry out physical examinations(See attached standard table ) for the children every quarter of year. In every quarter ,the results will be evaluated and fed back to the welfare house. According to the evaluation, the training methods will be discussed and adapted for the next quarter.

(5)Keep in touch with Shantou Welfare House and acquire more information about the children’s daily life.
