Every year there’s at least 100000 patients having the enterostomal operations for a variety of reasons, and the patients were severely hit by the enterostomal operation physiologically and psychologically, they need either care and help or more guidance and treatment from nursing specialists; secondly, the complications of enterostomal operation can make patients very distressed, and seriously affect the quality of life. According to domestic literatures, the early complication of enterostomy in general counted for 30%-40%, that means one third stoma patients suffered from enterostomal complications. Relevant studies have indicated that 66.7%- 84.3% patients did not understand observation and treatment of the complications and the enterostomal related products applications. Lacking of related knowledge of enterostomal care leaded to low self- care abilities, they were unable to prevent enterostomal complications, resulting in a decline in the quality of life of the patients, help and treatment were needed by trained enterostomal therapist.
Whole course of standardized nursing enterostomal patients:
1. Psychological nursing and preoperative enterostomal location which provided maximum guarantee for the future self- care, improving the quality of life of enterostomal patients.
2. Strengthening health education by the combination of lectures and bedside guidance to improve the enterostomal related knowledge and self- care abilities. On the other hand, we trained on the practice of replacing enterostomal bag, such as removing the enterostomal chassis, cutting, pasting in the models. Participants included enterostomal patients of the whole hospital, family members, discharged enterostomal patients and their families, student nurses and nurses. The teachers were enterostomal therapists and the staff from the enterostomal specialist team.
3.Providing enterostomal clinic service: providing services to the discharged enterostomal patients.
4.Strengthening social support: strengthening the communications and support by the establishment of enterostomal patients QQ group and enterostomal Associations.
